Every detail of Desert Willows has been carefully planned to meet the special needs of seniors with early Alzheimer's disease or other memory disorders. And because we understand how difficult it can be to care for someone with Alzheimer's, our care and concern is extended to families, too. At Desert Willows, we provide a beautiful, safe, home-like environment where family members of all ages can relate to their loved one in a more relaxed way. Residents of Desert Willows enjoy private studio apartments decorated with their personal belongings, engaging common areas like the Wood Shed or the Nursery, and secure outdoor courtyards with walking paths, gardens, a putting green and playground. Activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and eating are conducted with the level of assistance that is required. Our residents are regularly given the opportunity to socialize with their neighbors, and may chose to join in familiar activities, such as preparing meals or raking the yard. Specialized caregivers are trained to assist with the challenges faced by seniors with memory loss, including communication, wandering, nutrition, and interrupted sleep. Because we see the participation of family as key in meeting the needs of their loved one, we are dedicated to family education and offer a variety of family counseling and learning opportunities. Families are valued for their first-hand experience and knowledge, and are encouraged to 'share in the caring' at their chosen level of comfort.
